Gianni Bugno, one of the most beloved champions of Italian cycling history
Present at the 26th edition of the Granfondo Via Del Sale Fantini Club.
The 26th edition of the Granfondo Via Del Sale Fantini Club will feature Gianni Bugno. The world champion and former cyclist is currently a sports executive.
A professional from 1985 to 1998, he was world road champion in 1991 and 1992. In his career he achieved 72 victories. He won nine stage victories at the Giro d'Italia, as well as the overall win in 1990, as well as four stages at the Tour de France and two at the Vuelta a España; he also made his own a Milan-San Remo, a Tour of Flanders, a Milan-Turin and a Tour of Emilia.
Considered, one of the last riders capable of competing at the highest level in both the one-day classics and the big three-week stage races: thanks to his versatility, Bugno was able to win time trials, mountain stages and sprint finishes, always participating in all the most important cycling competitions of the season.
Between 1990 and 1991 he was also number one in the UCI world rankings.
It is a great honor for our organization to host Gianni Bugno during the press conference on Saturday, April 1.
